Hey guys! It's been so long since I have made a new "What Am I Listening To?" playlist for you! Honestly, I am always listening to something new, but when I find some songs I can't get out of my head, I have to share! So, here is my summer 2016 playlist! I hope you enjoy :)

Can't Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake


  I am absolutely obsessed with this song! Well me as well as the rest of the world XD. It's just a feel good pop song, and the world needs more of those. I feel like this song is the 2016 version of "Happy" by Pharrell. It's everywhere I turn, and it's just infectious! The song just makes you want to dance. Plus, I am obsessed with anything Max Martin touches. He is just a musical mastermind, and the more I research about him, the more I admire his work. Overall, I feel like I am going to be listening to this song for a VERY long time :)

If It's Lovin' That U Want by Rihanna






 So this is a random favorite. But in May I went to see Rihanna and she was amazing live! So I went back home with an obsession of Rihanna songs! As I was searching through Spotify, I realized how much I loved this song. I remember when it first came out I was obsessed with this song too. I thought it was such a cool sounding song. Now, I just find this song as a guilty-pleasure song. I will forever adore Rihanna, and this song was pretty much the start of my love for her.

Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car by Billy Ocean



 That video cover is so random, but to be honest, so is this song. I love 80's music, and this song is almost like the epitome of 80's pop. It is groovy, as well as just catchy. This song makes me want to dance and have a little party in my head every time I hear it. Anyone who knows me, knows that 80's music is one my favorite times in music history, and this song is 80's pop in a tune. (Plus it was on Pretty Woman so there's another fun fact XD)

 Hey guys! Today's post is dedicated to the newest Coldplay album. I know I post a lot of "What Am I Listening To?" posts, but today I wanted to do a review of an entire album. I am quite fond of music, and I think I've got good taste, so I figured why not?!

 Now I will give a little bit of a disclaimer here: Coldplay's music is right up my alley, but it might not be up yours. Their music tends to verge on the Alternative side, while still maintaining a mainstream appeal, which is awesome, I think. But if you are someone who doesn't care for Alternative, then this album might not be for you.

 So overall, I think this is the perfect album to get you going. There are a lot of songs that are written with high energy and the vibe of the album is electric. This album feels like a dream. The songs that are more pop friendly are still psychedelic in a way, without sounding crazy. This album reminds me of the Mylo Xyloto album they did a few years ago. The only difference between the two albums is that Head Full of Dreams has more songs that feel like proper songs. I will say, in Mylo Xyloto, there were some songs that weren't written to really be a song, but to transition between songs. Head Full of Dreams doesn't have a lot of those.

 My personal favorite songs from the album are Hymn for the Weekend, Birds, and Adventure of a Lifetime. These songs are the most energetic songs off the album. Hymn for the Weekend is just a cool song. Listen to that song, and you will immediately assume you are going to a party. It's just one of the coolest sounding songs I have ever heard. Birds feels like it should have been released in the late 1980's or early 1990's. It sounds like a transitional song at first, but it has it's own magic it adds to the album. It's the second song on the album, and it really sets the tone of the album. It doesn't follow a traditional pop song composure, and I think that's why I like it. And Adventure of a Lifetime is just a fun song. Two seconds into it, and I just want to dance. Again, it is a very energetic song, with a lot of style. I am a sucker for an energetic song!

 In conclusion, this album feels like a psychedelic, artistic, and energetic dream. Like a dream that takes you to a place where you can dance and relax. I love this album, and I would probably rate it as one of my favorite albums of the year, and I've listened to a lot of albums this year! If you are a fan of Coldplay, this album will not disappoint you! And if you've only ever listened to the Coldplay that gets played on the radio, this is a great album to listen to to get more into their work. Their earlier albums tend to be more heavy in songwriting, so I would probably recommend listening to this album or  Mylo Xyloto to start. Those albums are more fun and not as serious as some of their other works.

 For my first song, I picked this gem from *NSYNC! I have been listening to their Christmas album like nonstop! Most of the songs aren't the most festive, but the songs that are festive, are super catchy! This is one of may favorites off of the album. Plus the video is like 90's Christmas in a video. Let's just take a second and appreciate their outfits because I think it's truly hilarious.

Hey guys! I am back with a new "What Am I Listening To?" post! I haven't posted an updated one in a really long time! It's not that I haven't been listening to new music, it's just that I haven't really been talking about it. As a self-proclaimed music nerd, I happen to always be listening to some type of music, so today I thought I would share the songs that I have been listening to most in the past two weeks. I hope you enjoy :)

Left Hand Free by Alt-J



 I cannot get this song out of my head! When I went to ACL, I got to see this band perform live. I had never heard of them before, but by the crowd at their show, I could tell that I was missing out on something. So I stayed and watched their set, and it was amazing. These guys know how to put on a show!! As well, I realized that I actually knew some of their stuff, I just didn't know it was them. In particular, this song. This song actually comes on where I work, and I always hum along when it's on. But seeing it live was just a whole different experience. This is a great song, and by an amazing band. With that said, I am now an Alt-J fan XD

Hello by Adele



THE QUEEN IS BACK! I love Adele, and I am so glad she is releasing new music. 21 is one of my favorite albums of all time, and 19 is the most relaxing album I can think of. But with "Hello", Adele reclaims the throne of the power vocals. The video, although very simple at first glance, was actually the first music video to use IMAX cameras, which makes her music video look more like a movie than anything else. Adele tells a story in her songs, and that's what I have grown to love about her as an artist.


Adam's Song by Blink 182



 Adam's Song is my all time favorite Blink 182 song. Recently, I bought an old Blink 182 album that had like their greatest hits, and that's basically all I have been listening to in my car for the past like two weeks. This song deals with depression and thoughts of suicide, but in a mature and nostalgic way. You can hear the yearning for old times in the composure of the lyrics and in the tone of the instrumentals. For me, this song has more meaning than ever before. I won't say why, but this song just carries more meaning for me today than ever before. It's an oldie but a goodie :)

 Hey guys! So I am so sorry about Thursday's post! I had a Get Ready With Me video planned and edited, but for some reason, my computer would not let me publish it! I know it's really not an excuse, but I was just really bummed when it didn't work out. I am still trying to publish it, and if it works, then I will upload it on top of what I already have recorded for Thursday! Again, so sorry!

 Onto today's post! I am going to be sharing with you guys my most favorite songs for the previous month. When I first started sharing what I loved in music on this blog, I thought it was going to be a weekly thing. I have decided that might be a little too much. But instead, I will shoot for one a month!

First up, Something Big by Shawn Mendes


 First of all, can we talk about how cute he is! And what I love about him more as an artist is that he really put himself out there in order to be signed. He was an internet celebrity before he became a recording artist, often posting himself singing in Vines. His first album, Handwritten, is a mix of soulful ballads, and more upbeat, catchy pop songs, like Something Big. I really can't tell you one specific thing I love about this song. I love the infectious melody, his voice on the verses, as well as the overall production of the song itself. I absolutely adore this song, as well as Shawn Mendes. I think we can expect great things from him.

Next Up, Tear In My Heart by Twenty One Pilots

 I will be honest and say, this is quite the stretch from Shawn Mendes, but what they share in common is their catchy-ness. This song is more rock driven, but still maintains a mainstream appeal to it. It's not rock music that screams rock. What I love about this band, in particular, is how easily and smoothly they are able to cross genres. They are songs that have more of a steady rhythm and are more melodic, then there are some that don't follow the normal formatting of songs. In this song in particular, and the reason I chose it as one of my favorites, is how the song is somehow divided into two parts. There is the beginning and the last verse that follow the same instrumentations, then there is the middle, that seems to come out of nowhere! It doesn't follow the same rhythm as the beginning and the end: it is entirely unique from the rest of the song. I absolutely love this risky move they made by changing the middle of the song. I think it adds personality to a mainstream sounding rock song, and helps keep Twenty One Pilots in a league of their own.

Finally, I Really Like You by Carly Rae Jepsen


 Okay, okay, I'll admit it: This song is slowly becoming one of my favorites. I can't help it! To be truthfully honest, it isn't really that good. It is not the most beautifully composed songs, nor does it have anything that truly makes it unique. But what it does have, is it's insanely catchy chorus. And it's so easy to sing along to! There aren't any hard riffs, there isn't something complex in the verses to make it hard to sing. It is a guilty pleasure song that's extremely easy to fall in love with. It's fun, and it's cute. And sometimes, that's all we need in a song.

 Hello guys! I just want to say thank you so much if you are reading this right now. It honestly means the world to me that you have stopped whatever you were doing to read this for like 5 minutes. I deeply appreciate you guys! I just wanted to say that because I feel like I don't say it enough. Like I understand I am not big in any sense, but I want to promote being grateful and showing just how appreciative I am of anyone reading this. So this was my way of doing that.  I think everyone who knows me personally knows that I am a huge music person. I eat, breathe, and sleep music. And I am always looking for new people to fall in love with their music. Ghost by Halsey


 Recently I discovered Halsey. She is this super cool singer/songwriter that writes the most killer songs. Her EP Room 93 is literally my life right now. Anyways, this song is my personal favorite off of the EP. I love the melody of the song. It's unique in that it doesn't follow the mold of pop songs that I know of. She is deeply original and I think this song, as well as the others on her EP showcase her originality. She is definitely an artist to watch. I think she might be a big name one day.

My Type by Saint Motel


 This song is just so fun! It made the list because of the high energy of the instrumental. I cannot honestly tell you a single lyric of this song, but I love it for it's energy. It really symbolizes summer to me, if that makes sense? Like I can imagine a dance party to this song because it is that good. If you ever want to take five minutes and dance off any troubles, this would be a good song to do that to! And the video is perfect for the song as far as colors go! It's a summer song, for sure.

What About Your Friends by TLC


 This is probably the most random song in the group! I was listening to music with my mom the other day and she blasts this song. I honestly hadn't heard a lot of TLC's music except for the mega hits like Waterfalls and No Scrubs. But I really liked this song. It's got a great beat to it, and it's got a lot energy. It's a great song to sing along to once you know the lyrics. What's fun about any TLC song is that a part will be sung, and some will be rapped. So you really get the best of both worlds with any TLC song.

 Hey guys! I'm actually posting on Sunday like I'm supposed to! I hope everyone had an amazing Valentine's Day. I know I did! So, not to get sentimental about it or anything like that, but guys, this is my 10th post! For anyone who doesn't know me personally, 10 is a really important number to me. My birthday is October 10th, which if you put in numerically, is 10/10. Plus there are other reasons why I love the number 10, but they are lame and corny so I am just going to leave it at that.

 In honor of my 10th post, I am going to write about something that I love deeply: music. I know I usually post beauty posts or even life posts, but I wanted to do another music post and just share the music that I have been loving the past week. Now I will warn you that these songs maybe new or they maybe old. I tend to go back and forth whenever I am listening to music between current music and older music. But I hope you guys can find maybe even one song that you like! So let's get it started!

If You Ever Want To Be In Love by James Bay



 This song is my newest obsession. Actually, James Bay is my newest obsession. But this song is my favorite so far. I love the tempo of the song. It's not too fast, but it is fast enough to give a little bounce to the song. Plus whenever you get to the chorus, you can hear the harmonies and the warmth of the song. It's just like an "AH" moment everytime you get to the chorus. Plus the chorus is so fun to just sing along to, and is very catchy and memorable. The song is pretty simple in composition, but it's fun to listen to and it is drenched in pop soul. It's absolutely amazing. I love this song and I am excited to hear the rest of his album.

Vision of Love by Mariah Carey


 This past week, or maybe the week before, I purchased two Mariah Carey albums. But they were both on sale on iTunes, and I got it for even cheaper because I already had bought a couple songs from the albums. So I went ahead and got her Greatest Hits album and the Emancipation of Mimi album. I listened to each one and sang along to the songs I knew and discovered new ones that I love. This was a song that I had heard before, but I never really paid much attention to it. But I am so glad I rediscovered it because it's absolutely brilliant. The beginning is a little slow. But what I love about it is that it builds and builds with each verse. By the end of the song, you are ready for the epic ending. Now, this song doesn't have one of those super high notes that she is known for, but you hear her power when she holds the last note, and her control as she does the fun little riff at the very end. This was actually her first song ever released! That is insane to me! But still, it's amazing.

Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap


 I know this song is old, but I still love it as much as I did in the past. I was listening to the Indie Pop station on Pandora and this song popped up. I hadn't heard this song in a while, and when it came up, I rediscovered my love for this song. It's so romantic in a muted kind of way. You have to really decipher the lyrics to see the romantic aspects of it. What I love about this song, aside from the muted romance, is the tempo. I'm a sucker for mid tempo pop songs. I love the pacing of the song. Plus the song is so cute in its composition. I really love this song, and I hope you like it to! Just in case you're wondering where you might have heard this song before, it was on the soundtrack for 500 Days of Summer. The movie, as well as the song, is so great! But I won't go on about my love for 500 Days of Summer. :)

 Hello guys! So after last week's very personal blog post, I decided that I wanted to do something more lighthearted and fun for this week's post! I am going to talk to you guys about some of my favorite things of all time. Like raindrops on roses, or whiskers on kittens. You know, just casually. So I am going to break them down into categories so that this blog remains nice and organized. So here we go! (Let's take bets as to how many times I am going to say "so" in this post!)

 Skin Care

 Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not the biggest skincare aficionado, but I do have products that I swear by! And here they are!

Aveeno Lotion

 This stuff is golden! I swear by it for absolutely soft and touchable skin! I love buying lotions that smell good, but if you want something that is really going to moisturize your skin from the inside out, Aveeno is for you. The way cheaper, better smelling lotions work is that they sit on the surface level of the skin without going into your pores. This is great because you wouldn't want the chemicals that cause it to smell good to get into your pores, but at the same time, you won't truly be moisturized. The way that Aveeno works is that it not only moisturizes the surface level of the skin, it will actually get into the pores so that your skin is truly soft and moisturized. I can go a day without putting it on and still feel just as soft as before. I absolutely swear by it. I love, love love it! I get mine at Ulta Beauty for like $7.99 I believe. It's not as cheap as the smell good lotions, but it is worth the money!

Simple Products

 I only use Simple products when it comes to taking off makeup and exfoliating. I like Simple because it  does not use harsh chemicals. And you can tell because when you use it, it doesn't leave your skin very dry. There's still an element of dryness because your makeup needs to come off somehow! But it isn't as harsh as some makeup wipes I have used in the past. I use the Simple Cleansing Wipes and the Exfoliating wipes. I get the cleansing ones in a pack of two for $8.99 at Ulta. One pack, which is 25 wipes, is $5.99 at Ulta. And the exfoliating wipes, I believe, are the same price. I could be wrong on that, but I am pretty sure they are the same price.

Beauty

 Covergirl Lashblast Mascara

 I have literally been using this mascara since the time I have started wearing makeup. I love the applicator on this mascara. It really separates each individual lash and the formula isn't super heavy, which I love because I have really sensitive eyes, so it makes it easier for me to wear mascara if it's a light formula. This one goes for like $7.99 at Walmart I believe. I get everything at Ulta because, yeah, I like rewards. I swear, my Ulta rewards card is my life. I love it!

L'Oreal Paris Youth Code BB Cream

 Okay, so I don't wear typical foundations. I just think it looks so heavy and I don't like wearing too much makeup on my face. I like BB creams because its a light/sheer finish (partly because it's not supposed to be worn as a foundation), and while I wear it, it actually corrects some of the issues I have on my face. Like my cheeks are a little more red than the rest of my face, but since I have been using this BB cream, I am noticing my skin becoming more clear and consistent. I got this BB cream for $5.99 at Marshall's. I think regular price though, it runs like at $10. I just looked at some prices on Google and that seemed to be the median price. If I am wrong, I am so sorry!

Television

 I am not a huge TV person. I just don't like sitting and watching TV. But I do have some shows that I am very dedicated and loyal to, so here they are!

American Horror Story

 I absolutely love this series! I love how each season is so carefully thought out, and each season is different than the others. I think my favorite season was Murder House, but I am also enjoying Coven on Netflix. Sorry, I haven't quite enjoyed Freakshow. I just felt like this season there was a real lack of a story being told. It feels disconnected somehow. I don't know how to explain it. But Murder House, Asylum, and Coven are so good that I am going to watch it until it ends. I absolutely love this series. Just a warning, it isn't for the faint hearted. If you get easily scared, or you don't like gruesome television, I wouldn't recommend you watch the series. It's a little out there, but I love it so I will continue to watch it!

Tabitha Takes Over

 So I don't know if this show is still on the air, but I was obsessed with it a few years back. And if I see it's on, I will either watch it or record it for me to watch later. I love these kinds of renovation shows. This also goes for house flipping shows. But there's too many I watch for me to list them all out. Basically, if a store (it used to only be salons, but she expanded the show to do all kinds of businesses) was falling apart, she would come in for  a week to see what was not working and she would completely redo the business to give them a fresh start. I absolutely love it. Renovation shows are my weakness, and this is my favorite show of that kind.

Music

 I have varying tastes in music. I like different kinds of genres and artists. But I am going to simplify this by listing two of my favorite artists, from two different genres. That way you guys can see two different styles. (Heehee, styles. Like Harry Styles. Heehee, heehee).

 Young The Giant

If you were to ask me who my favorite artist/band is, I would probably say Passion Pit or Young The Giant. I would probably put Young The Giant above Passion Pit though because YTG is more diverse in their songs. I can honestly say each of their songs are unique and so good. They have such a calm and romantic theme sometimes, but then they can also be very edgy and meaningful in others. I just love them. I can't really say much more than I love them.

One Direction

Speaking of Harry Styles, I would rate One Direction as one of my favorite bands. I love how much they have grown as a band in the years that they have been together. You couldn't listen to the Up All Night album and the Four album and say that's the same band. And the beauty of it is is that they are the same band. They have gracefully matured in their songs and their songwriting abilities. To think that they used to never write their songs, and now they have so much more control as far as songwriting goes. I think it's wonderful. Plus, no one can deny that their songs are catchy.
